Buzzfeed on Poetry Month

Every once in awhile one Buzzfeed’s spazzy, caffeinated snippets are actually a restorative. For instance, this list of peoples’ favorite lines of poetry: “48 of the Most Beautiful Lines of Poetry“.

So nice to revisit old favorites…

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.”
— from “Wild Geese” by Mary Oliver

Even more delicious to be surprised by something new..

I would like to be the air
that inhabits you for a moment
only. I would like to be that unnoticed
and that necessary.”
— from “Variations on the Word Sleep” by Margaret Atwood

I might have to go to a bookstore and browse a Poetry Month table today….
